Chicago was an exciting event for Linkerd. We had two big announcements: 1) Our partnership with Rancher/SUSE and 2) the upcoming 2.15 release with mesh expansion and SPIFFE support. Our team also got to talk about what's next for Linkerd, Rust and how it shaped Linkerd (and vice versa), and some of our community work.

Today, we're happy to announce the release of Linkerd Enterprise, the first-ever distribution of Linkerd focused specifically on enterprise environments. Over the past 18 months, enterprise adoption of Linkerd has skyrocketed, with companies like Adidas, Microsoft, Plaid, and DB Schenker publishing case studies about how they've deployed Linkerd to bring security, compliance, and reliability to their mission-critical production infrastructure.

KubeCon + CloudNativeCon NA 2023 is around the corner, and with it, lots of Linkerd goodness. As at previous KubeCons, you'll find us at two booths: the Buoyant booth will be in the expo hall, and Linkerd will have a kiosk in the Project Pavilion.

We're happy to announce the release of Linkerd 2.14 with improved support for multi-cluster deployments on shared flat networks, full Gateway API conformance, and much more. The new release comes four months after our massive Linkerd 2.13 release with circuit breaking and dynamic request routing and continues Linkerd's focus on coupling enterprise-grade power and flexibility.

This KubeCrash will dive deep into multi-cluster deployments at enterprise scale, using a single stateful demo app throughout the presentations. We’ll tie clusters into a single network, allow for automated cluster-wide certificate hierarchies, enable cost-effective cross-cluster communications, and set up Kubernetes guardrails to avoid misconfiguration-based app failure, all while using a distributed database to ensure surviving failures of individual pieces.

If you're using Kubernetes, you've probably heard the term "sidecar" by now. What might surprise you, however, is that Kubernetes itself has no built-in notion of sidecars—at least, until now.
