Linkerd is bringing a couple of new features into the world! Egress metrics, egress control, and Federated Services are major additions to Linkerd for the 2.17 release, giving Linkerd new capabilities to manage real-world applications gracefully.

Linkerd's new capabilities around egress metrics allow Linkerd to measure and report on traffic leaving your cluster for the outside world. Egress control, on the other hand, extends Linkerd's policy functionality to dictate which traffic is allowed. Finally, Federated Services let Kubernetes Services seamlessly span all your clusters in a multicluster setup, simplifying high-reliability application design.
