The report states that “advanced distributed architectures, such as microservices, are forcing application leaders to ensure manageability and portability of their systems.” We couldn’t agree more. In our view, containers and orchestration solve deployment-time operations for cloud-native applications. However, they leave a gap in how to address runtime operations.

Buoyant’s open source service mesh projects provide an easy way to solve that challenge. Linkerd provides features like monitoring, debugging, load balancing, retries and timeouts, and security policies, giving platform engineers and operators the ability to ensure reliability, security, and visibility in cloud-native environments.

According to Gartner’s report, application leaders responsible for modernizing application architecture, infrastructure and integration should “exploit service mesh capabilities in portable, resilient, and incrementally extensible microservices implementations to enable application infrastructure.” Over the past two years, Linkerd has rapidly risen to prominence in the cloud-native landscape. Enterprises that include Credit Karma, FOX, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Monzo, PayPal, and Salesforce use Linkerd in production today. Conduit, the next-gen successor to Linkerd, is blazing a similar trail for Kubernetes.  In the cloud-native community, Linkerd has proven to be a mission-critical part of your infrastructure when running microservices in production.
